NEWARK--Rutgers-Newark men’s basketball coach Joe Loughran captured his 100th career victory with an 82-80 NJAC win over Ramapo on December 3. Loughran’s 100 victories are the most in the Division III history of the program, while his triumph over the Roadrunners ties him with former head coach Jim Hill for the most conference wins in school history with 41.

Now in his eighth season at the helm of the Scarlet Raider program, Loughran has guided Rutgers-Newark to an overall record of 100-92.

Loughran has led the Raiders to five straight winning regular seasons, and the three most successful seasons in school history with back-to-back-to-back 18 win seasons 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07. In 2007-08, the Scarlet Raiders made their fourth straight appearance in the ECAC Metro Championship.

The Scarlet Raiders earned berths in three consecutive NJAC Tournaments (2005, 2006, and 2007) reaching the semifinal round all three times. Under Loughran’s leadership, the Raiders posted four consecutive winning records for the first time in the program’s Division III history.
