NJAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAMS TO HOST UPCOMING PLAY4KAY CONTESTS

PITMAN—Seven NJAC women’s basketball teams will host “Play 4Kay” contests in the upcoming weeks as part of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) breast cancer awareness initiative. Play 4Kay is an opportunity for a nation of coaches to raise breast cancer awareness and funds for research on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The event was formerly known as the WBCA Pink Zone and Think Pink.

The Kay Yow Cancer Fund was founded in 2007 in partnership with The V Foundation for Cancer Research, to raise money in the fight against women’s cancers. The late Kay Yow was the former North Carolina State University head women’s basketball coach and a past president of the WBCA. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987 and later passed away on January 24, 2009 after her third bout with the disease. Since the establishment of the Fund, $4,500,000 has been raised for scientific research focused on women’s cancers.
