ROWAN'S CARLISLE NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN

GLASSBORO--Rowan diver Bryan Carlisle was selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Team.

Carlisle advanced to the national ballot after being named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II first team. To be nominated for the Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 or higher cumulative grade point average (GPA) and a starter or significant reserve. The District II College Division consists of all non-NCAA Division I colleges and universities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.

Carlisle is majoring in advertising and has a 3.649 GPA. This season, he earned All-America honors at the 2008 NCAA Division III Championships in the one meter and three meter diving. Carlisle was third in the one-meter with 451.20 points and fifth in the three meter with 458.45 points. He was named the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Performer of the Year and to the Academic All-Area Team for the second consecutive season.

Carlisle was Rowan’s top diver this season in both the one meter (457.85 points) and three meter (515.00 points). He placed first in the one meter against William Paterson University (264.68 points), New York University (288.45 points) and The College of New Jersey (264.25 points). Carlisle also won the three meter diving against William Paterson (319.95 points), NYU (304.88 points) and at the Rowan Cup Races (515.00 points).

In 2007, Carlisle took fifth place in the three-meter diving (463.10 points) at the national championship for All-America honors. He received All-America honorable mention in the one-meter diving after coming in 13th place (397.55 points). Carlisle was 14th (401.50 points) and 15th (382.80 points) in the one and three-meter diving, respectively, at the 2006 NCAA Division III Championships, earning All-America honorable mention in both events.
