EWING—With a 183-110 victory over arch rival Rowan on January 30, The College of New Jersey’s women’s swimming & diving team captured its sixth consecutive New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship. The Lion women finished their conference schedule with a perfect 4-0 record for the second consecutive season.
The victory gave the TCNJ women their 10th NJAC swimming & diving championship in league history, and their sixth consecutive league crown since 1999-00. Due to a lack of institutional sport sponsorship, women’s swimming & diving was not recognized as a conference championship sport from a period of 2003-08.
Since the NJAC does not sponsor a championship meet in the sport of swimming & diving, the conference championship is awarded to the team with the best record in league dual-meet competition. The Lions claimed the second consecutive title since the return of NJAC women’s swimming & diving with victories over Montclair State (151-86 on October 23), Ramapo (188-61 on October 31), William Paterson (203-78 on January 24), and Rowan (183-110 on January 30).
