NJAC Student-Athlete Spotlight: William Paterson's Mollie Kearns

PITMAN--There's no doubt the NJAC boasts some extremely talented athletes but we want fans to know that there's more to these athletes than just their accomplishments on the field, court, etc. The NJAC Student-Athlete Spotlight highlights one student-athlete each Friday.
 
The NJAC Student-Athlete Spotlight for the week ending November 16th comes from William Paterson. A junior field hockey player from Wanaque, NJ, Mollie Kearns is currently pursuing a degree in Physical Education

What made you choose your institution?
As soon as I met my future teammates as well as the coaching staff, I knew it was where I wanted to be. Academically it suited all my needs as well.
 
What made you want to become a DIII collegiate athlete? 
I've loved field hockey for as long as I can remember. Playing at the college level is something I have always wanted to do. I am truly blessed getting another four years to play what I love.
 
What was your first memory of playing your sport?
I remember crying to my Mom that I had to wear a skirt to play a sport.
 
What has been the greatest or most memorable moment of your experience as a collegiate athlete?
I have to say every second with my field hockey teammates is what I will remember most.
 
Do you have any pre-game rituals? If so, what are they?
I read an inspiring card my Dad wrote to me when I was really struggling with my athletics in high school.
 
What famous athlete do you look up to?
Sylar Diggins
 
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I see myself graduating from the University of Notre Dame with a Master’s Degree
 
What is your favorite part about being an NJAC student-athlete?
The rivalry between teams is part of the reason competing in the NJAC is so rewarding. I take such pride in representing my school and my program and competing everyday
 
What is your biggest accomplishment OFF the field, court, etc.?
My biggest accomplishment has been making the Dean’s List while I played two sports at William Paterson.
