PITMAN--There's no doubt the NJAC boasts some extremely talented athletes but we want fans to know that there's more to these athletes than just their accomplishments on the field, court, etc. The NJAC Student-Athlete Spotlight highlights one student-athlete each Friday.
The NJAC Student-Athlete Spotlight for the week ending November 9th comes from Rutgers University-Camden. A senior men's soccer player from Haddonfield, NJ, Joe Auleta is currently pursuing a degree in Biology.

What made you choose your institution?
A world-renowned degree in a field that I wanted to study, and an affordable education was why I chose Rutgers University-Camden.
What made you want to become a DIII collegiate athlete?
The love for the game of soccer and the fact that I knew I wanted to compete in it as long as possible made me decide on continuing my athletic career in college.
What was your first memory of playing your sport?
My first memories come from kicking the soccer ball around with my parents when I was just 3 or 4 years old.
What has been the greatest or most memorable moment of your experience as a collegiate athlete?
The most amazing moment so far was playing in the 2013 NCAA Division III Championship Match.
Do you have any pre-game rituals? If so, what are they?
I put on my gear in a specific order: left sock, then right. Left cleat, then right, then tape for both of my shin guards.
What famous athlete do you look up to and why?
I look up to Thierry Henry, the french player for the NY Red Bulls in the MLS. I've watched him since I was a kid, he has such skill and class which I really admire. Plus, he has the ability to take over any game by himself.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I see myself in the medical profession or at a medical school, utilizing my Biology degree from Rutgers Camden.
What is your favorite part about being an NJAC student-athlete?
The competition is easily my favorite part. The league and teams talent levels change constantly and results are truly unpredictable. It makes competing in the NJAC that much more fun.
What is your biggest accomplishment OFF the field, court, etc.?
Becoming a 2013 NSCAA Third Team Scholar All-American, as well as receiving NJAC First Team recognition and CoSIDA Academic All District First Team honors were huge accomplishments in my academic career.
